MARTA GAY’S CURATORIAL PRACTICE FOCUSES ON CONTEMPORARY ART AND EMERGING ARTISTS IN SWITZERLAND AND ITALY. AS CURATOR OF GALLARIA SONNE IN SILVAPLANA (SWITZERLAND), SHE DEVELOPS EXHIBITIONS IN CLOSE DIALOGUE WITH ARTISTS AND THE CHARACTER OF EACH SITE, BRINGING TOGETHER EXISTING WORKS, NEW COMMISSIONS, AND SITE-SPECIFIC INTERVENTIONS. HER SPATIAL SETTINGS USE ARCHITECTURE, LIGHT, COLOUR, AND MATERIALS TO CONNECT THE WORKS, THE PLACE, AND THE PUBLIC.

LABORATORY! BROUGHT TOGETHER ORIGINAL WORKS BY FAUSTO GILBERTI AND DRAWINGS CREATED BY CHILDREN FROM THE SILVAPLANA SCHOOL DURING WORKSHOPS LED BY THE ARTIST. CURATED BY MARTA GAY AT GALLARIA SONNE, THE EXHIBITION CREATED A DIALOGUE BETWEEN ARTISTIC PRACTICE, EDUCATION, AND IMAGINATION. THE CHILDREN’S WORKS WERE OFFERED FOR SALE, WITH ALL PROCEEDS DONATED TO BAAN DOI SWITZERLAND.

The exhibition presents works by children from Silvaplana, created during workshops with Italian artist Fausto Gilberti at the local school. After reading his illustrated books and exploring his visual language, the children developed their own artworks. These are presented in dialogue with selected original works by the artist.

The children’s works are available for purchase, with all proceeds donated to Baan Doi Switzerland, the Swiss supporting association of BAAN DOI – Home and Healing Center for Children in Thailand. The association supports the BAAN DOI children’s home and programmes for children and young people in Thailand. Visitors are warmly invited to contribute to this fundraising initiative.

CYTRUS BIANCAMARIA WAS A TEMPORARY EXHIBITION PROJECT PRESENTED IN MILAN DURING MIART AND MILANO DESIGN WEEK 2026. CURATED BY CHIARA GUIDI, DESIGNED BY GARIBALDI ARCHITECTS, AND DEVELOPED IN COLLABORATION WITH MARTA GAY, IT BROUGHT ART AND DESIGN TOGETHER ACROSS THREE ROOMS. COLOUR, LIGHT, AND MATERIALS CONNECTED WORKS, OBJECTS, AND ARCHITECTURE, WHILE GAY’S MODULAR SOFA DIWAN FORMED A CENTRAL ELEMENT OF THE INSTALLATION.

The project takes the form of a temporary exhibition in which artworks and objects with different languages coexist, creating a platform at the intersection of art and design. Evoking colour, light, energy and vitality, CYTRUS BIANCAMARIA is conceived as a contemporary citrus grove. Its deep-orange, citrus-scented interior becomes an immersive environment that brings the selected works together and creates a bridge between Milan’s principal art and design events.

Across three rooms at Viale Bianca Maria 21, artists and designers enter into direct dialogue. The first room presents Marta Gay’s modular sofa DIWAN, inspired by the seating of Indian maharajas and designed to transform from a throne into a majlis. The exhibition also includes works by Diango Hernández, Edoardo Cialfi, Leonardo Dalla Torre, Mattia Turco, SoloMostry, Bruno Laurenzano, Kris Ruhs, Mattia Sugamiele, Alex Ravenoldi and Danuca Tomas.

CYTRUS BIANCAMARIA is developed in collaboration with Marta Gay and curated by Chiara Guidi, in collaboration with Wizard Gallery and NP-ArtLab. The exhibition design is by Garibaldi Architects, with support from Eco Contract, Ceriani Luce, Stilnovo and Flowhere Lab.
